The Pregnancy

[ 3 Months ]
The PREGNANCY - boy, did it take us a while to be able to say that!  We both knew we wanted children, but little did we know what a process that would be.  Almost 12 months to the day after deciding it was TIME, we finally got that double stripe!  Robbie, the realist that he is, wouldn’t even let us celebrate (or more important, spread the good news!) until we got an official second opinion.  Seeing as I took the test on Friday night, nothing was open on Saturday except Planned Parenthood.  The women working there were so thrilled to have a patient who actually wanted to be pregnant, they gave me three different tests - one of them even got teary eyed because I was bawling!  After the fourth positive test, Robbie was finally convinced!
The pregnancy was wonderful, actually.  Sorry to all who experienced this, but I had no morning sickness!  And the only "scare" we had were some early Braxton Hicks contractions, which my Dr. said were common for petite women - of course this was only figured out after an embarrassing trip to the hospital!  Other than that, BabyT was really a model tenant.

His due date was is July 12, 1997 - already taking after his mom, he was a week late.  Our Dr. had scheduled an induction for 12:01am on Friday July 18 (Sat. am), but Colton decided to come on his own time and broke my water at 8:30am Friday morning.  There was some confusion when we arrived at the hospital at 3pm - they thought I was there 9 hours early for the induction - so we sat in the lobby for 20 minutes with contractions only 3 minutes apart!  I labored for a good 12 hours, and after 3 episodes of the baby’s heart rate dropping, they performed an emergency C-section.  At 10:46pm, our little bundle of joy came screaming into the world looking as pink and healthy as could be - and weighing in at 8.7 pounds!  Both mom and baby are doing well.
This is me coming toward the home stretch - and boy am I getting stretched out! The two blondes are my mother-in-law, Nancy, and my sister-in-law, Sherri. Can you tell which one of us is not related? The beautiful blue behind us is the San Diego Harbor; I'm so lucky to live in such a beautiful city.
